The main differences between steel powder coated and painted are the process flow, drying method, glossiness, wear resistance and weather resistance.
Process flow:
powder coated: Spray paint on the base steel first, then treat it at high temperature to cure the paint film. This usually includes spraying primer and topcoat multiple times, and the steel materials is sent to a dust-free constant temperature baking room for baking after each spraying.
Painted: Spray the paint into a mist on the surface steel frame, and then dry it naturally or use a drying device to dry it. The painted process is relatively simple and does not require high temperature curing.
Drying method:
powder coated: The paint film is dried and cured quickly by heating, usually in a high temperature environment.
Painted: Dry naturally in the air or use a drying device to dry, and the drying speed is slow.
Gloss:
powder coated: The glossiness is usually high, and a mirror effect can be achieved, with a smooth and flawless surface.
Painted: The glossiness is relatively low, generally matte or semi-matte, and the surface may appear not smooth enough due to the presence of paint particles.
Abrasion resistance and weather resistance:
powder coated: After high temperature treatment, the paint film is harder and more durable, and its abrasion resistance and weather resistance are usually better than Painted.
Painted: Due to the slow drying speed, it is easily affected by the external environment, resulting in a decrease in paint film performance, and relatively poor abrasion resistance and weather resistance.
In summary, the main differences between steel powder coated and Painted are the process flow, drying method, glossiness, and abrasion resistance and weather resistance. Powder coated usually has higher glossiness, better abrasion resistance and weather resistance due to its high temperature curing characteristics, but the cost is higher and the construction requirements are strict; while Painted is easy to operate and low cost, but the glossiness and durability are relatively poor.
